We have the facility for patients to reply to SMS reminders to confirm that they will be attending their appointment.
Change your SMS reminder text to include something like... "reply YES to confirm your attendance"
If we receive a "yes" reply, the appointment will change from provisional (if set, see below) to the normal booked state and the status colour bar on the left will turn white. The system will also send out the text message document called "SMS Reply - Yes" which could have further instructions e.g. form filling.
If you do not get a reply, or the reply is something other than "no" you will be sent an email with that reply if there is a further action you need to take. The system will also send out the text message document called "SMS Reply - No" which could have further instructions e.g. call the practice.

If you wish to highlight which appointments need confirming, tick the "Provisional" box when making the appointment so it shows differently in the appointment book. This is not required, but is useful for seeing which patients have not confirmed with a "yes" reply.
You don't need to choose a date.
All replies are stored in the patient record.
